The National Culinary Review (NCR), read by more than 20,000 chefs and culinary professionals, appeals to culinarians for its insightful articles on food, drink and menu trends, product application, management and lifestyle issues, recipes, and personal and professional development. Launched in 1932, NCR is the flagship publication of the American Culinary Federation. It is a benefit of membership and is also available by paid subscription. NCR publishes 10 times annually.
ACFEF Chef & Child Foundation
Chef & Child Foundation fosters, promotes, encourages and stimulates an awareness of proper nutrition in preschool and elementary school children, as well as combat childhood obesity. The foundation funds programs which give instruction on nutrition and proper eating habits to school age children.
The American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Chef & Child Foundation, Inc., focuses on the nutritional development of all of America’s children in all economic segments. All children need to learn how to cook and how to choose healthy foods. With many children living in homes with a single parent or with both parents working, children are cooking for their little brothers and sisters, and even for themselves and their parents.
If children are cooking, then American Culinary Federation chefs want to be involved in their nutritional education. So, please join us in our effort to end childhood hunger, and obesity and usher in a healthier tomorrow for all children.
The MVCA and Chef & Child
The MVCA has embraced the Chef & Child initiative by undertaking several events to increase our presence in the community as an organization that cares. As culinarians and Chefs, there is a lot we can do to connect our talents with the need to promote healthier eating! MVCA volunteers have served lunch to almost 150 children in Lucas County over the summer and will continue to participate in events that will educate and assist in the development of healthy eating habits. Volunteers are needed to help make these types of events successful! Volunteering at the events has put MVCA in touch with the very community we are reaching out to. On behalf of those who have volunteered thus far that it has been a very rewarding experience. The Chef & Child Committee is working hard to increase our participation in the community, and these events have been/will be a great way to do just that.
